How this is funded

Affiliate disclosure

We earn commission on qualifying purchases through our links. Here is exactly which ones, how much of the site that covers, and why it cannot move a ranking.

The short version

Pulse & Path is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.

When you click one of our links and buy something, we receive a small percentage of the sale. It costs you nothing extra — the price is the same as it would be if you had gone to Amazon directly.

That is the entire business model. There is nothing else.

Which links earn us money

Every link that can earn us a commission is marked #ad and routes through our /go/ redirect, carrying rel="sponsored nofollow noopener"as Google's link-spam policy requires. You never have to guess.

  • Amazon links — we earn. Our Associates tag is t5fitness-20. Every buy button and price on this site points here.
  • Links to manufacturers' own stores — we earn nothing. We have joined no direct programs. When the right answer for a buyer is a product sold direct, we link it anyway and mark it as non-earning.
  • Links to studies, manuals and spec sheets — we earn nothing. These are citations. Most outbound links on this site are of this kind.

Merchants currently on the site that we earn nothing from: WHOOP, Oura, Garmin, COROS, Polar, Suunto, Wahoo Fitness, Apple. We name them where they are the right answer because buyer-first beats commission, and a recommendation we do not believe is worth less than the commission on it.

Why commission cannot decide a ranking

Every affiliate site says commission does not influence its rankings. Almost none gives you a way to check. Here is ours.

The rubric is published, with its weights.Five factors — evidence 30%, hardware 20%, coverage 20%, endurance 15%, cost 15% — applied identically to every device, with each product's sub-scores expandable on the page. Scores are computed from those weights in code, not typed in by hand. If a ranking were commission-driven, the sub-scores would have to be visibly wrong, and you could point at which one. The whole method is here.

Three things follow from that, all of which cost us money:

  • A $105 chest strap outranks a $750 watch on our most-accurate page. We would earn several times more on the watch.
  • 6 of the 26 devices we rankcarry an explicit note that no validation study exists for them. Saying "nobody has measured this" next to a buy button is not a sales technique.
  • Our most-read advice is to buy something cheaper. The heart-rate upgrade path exists to tell people not to buy the new watch they came for.

How prices work here

Prices come from Amazon's Product API and are stamped with the date they were retrieved — currently Jul 24, 2026. They are never typed into an article.

If our price data is more than 48 hours old, the number disappearsand the button falls back to "Check price on Amazon". We would rather show you nothing than a price that has rotted. Any figure derived from a price — cost per GPS hour, three-year subscription cost — vanishes with it rather than being estimated.

Amazon prices change frequently. The price on Amazon at the moment you buy is the one that counts.

What we do not do

  • No sponsored content. No article here has been paid for by a brand.
  • No paid placements. A position in a ranking is not for sale.
  • No free products. We accept no review samples.
  • No manufacturer preview. Nobody sees a page before it publishes.
  • No fabricated reviews or testimonials. There are none on this site, because we have no customers to quote.

Why the disclosure appears so often

You will see #ad above the first affiliate link on every commercial page, on every buy button, and in the footer of every page. That is more than most sites do, and it is deliberate: the FTC requires disclosure to be clear and conspicuous at the point of the recommendation, and a single line buried on a page like this one does not meet that bar.

Questions

If anything here is unclear, or you think we have failed to disclose something we should have, tell us or email info@pulseandpath.com. We will fix it and say that we did.
